Solar estimate and invoice templates
Solar is priced per watt of system size, with permitting, interconnection and any upgrades listed separately. These spreadsheets come set up for that, with working totals, tax and deposit, and an example 8.4 kw rooftop solar system to start from.
Free, no sign-up. Works in Excel, Google Sheets and Apple Numbers.

How to use it
- 1Download the template. Download the solar estimate or invoice (.xlsx). It opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Apple Numbers.
- 2Add your company and customer. Fill in the shaded company, customer and service-address cells, and set the document number and date.
- 3Replace the example lines. The example is a 8.4 kw rooftop solar system. Solar is priced per watt of system size, with permitting, interconnection and any upgrades listed separately. Change the items, quantities and unit prices to your own; line totals and the subtotal update automatically.
- 4Set tax and deposit. Mark each line taxable (Y) or not (N), enter your sales tax rate, and set the deposit percent (the example uses 10%).
- 5Review terms and send. Edit the terms to match your policies, save a copy for the customer, and export to PDF to send.
Tips for solar estimates
- Add a cell showing price per watt (total ÷ watts) if your customers compare quotes that way.
- Keep interconnection as its own line, since utility timelines drive the schedule.
- Bill in milestones (contract, install, PTO) by copying the invoice tab.
Solar terms included
- Tax credits and incentives are the customer's to claim; we don't give tax advice.
- Permission to operate is issued by the utility, and the system must not be turned on before it.
Plus standard validity and payment terms. Edit all of them to match your policies and local law.
FAQ
Solar template questions
Have a question we didn't cover? Book a demo and ask a product specialist.
Should I show the tax credit on the estimate?
You can mention it, but don't subtract it from the price; the customer claims it, and eligibility depends on their tax situation.
How do I bill milestones?
Copy the invoice for each milestone and set the deposit cell to amounts already paid, so the balance is always correct.
Do the formulas work in Google Sheets?
Yes. The line totals, subtotal, taxable amount, tax, deposit and balance use standard functions (SUM, SUMIF, ROUND, IF) that work in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers.
