What a good pest control inspection checklist covers

  • Where you found activity and how much, not just which pest
  • Conducive conditions like moisture, clutter and wood-to-soil contact
  • Entry points that exclusion work could seal
  • Product application details your state requires you to record
  • Sanitation steps the customer can take between visits

Pest control inspection checklist questions

What application details do I need to record?

Most states require records of products used, EPA registration numbers, amounts, target pests and where they were applied, but the exact rules vary. Check with your state's pesticide regulatory agency.

Why note conducive conditions?

Moisture, food sources and entry points keep pests coming back no matter how well you treat. Writing them down shows the customer what they need to fix and protects you if they don't.

Can this checklist be used for a termite (WDO) inspection?

Use it for general pest visits. Wood-destroying organism reports for real estate deals usually have to be on a specific form your state or lender requires.
