Free job completion walkthrough checklist (fillable PDF)
A final walkthrough checklist to use with the customer before you close out a job. Confirm the work is done, record punch items and get sign-off.
How to use it
- 1Fill in the header. Enter the customer, address, date and any other details at the top of the checklist.
- 2Work through the items. Walk the job with the customer and check off each item together. Write anything that's not finished in the punch list field.
- 3Add notes. Note what was handed over, open items and the date you'll come back to finish them.
- 4Download or email the PDF. Download the completed checklist as a PDF to print or keep with the job, or email it to yourself to forward to the customer.
When to use a job completion walkthrough checklist
- At the end of any remodel, install or multi-day project
- Before sending the final invoice
- When a property manager or builder needs a punch list
- On jobs with change orders, to confirm extras were done
- Before closing a permit, to make sure nothing was missed

What's a punch list?
A list of small items left to finish or fix at the end of a job, like touch-up paint, a missing cover plate or an adjustment. Writing them down with a date keeps the final payment from stalling.
Should the customer sign the walkthrough checklist?
It's a good idea. A signed checklist shows the customer saw the work and agreed on what was left. Pair it with a certificate of completion for bigger jobs.
What if the customer finds problems during the walkthrough?
Add them to the punch list, agree on a return date and fix them promptly. Most disputes start when small items drag on, not with the main work.
