How it works
How route optimization works in Homeforce
Optimize one tech or the whole team, before the day starts or in the middle of it — without breaking a single arrival window.
Daily routes
One click to put the day in the right order.
Homeforce sequences each tech's stops around arrival windows, job durations, and start location. Review the proposed order, accept it, and techs get the updated route on their phones.
Rules that hold
Fast routes that still respect the job.
Locked appointments stay put. Jobs that need a certified tech, a ladder truck, or a two-person crew only go to people and vehicles that qualify. Lunch breaks and end-of-day locations are part of the plan.
Mid-day changes
When the day shifts, the route shifts with it.
An emergency call or a job that runs long reshuffles the remaining stops in seconds. Dispatch approves the change, and affected customers get an updated ETA automatically.
Territory planning
Book the north side on the days you're up north.
Service zones guide CSRs and online booking toward days when a tech is already nearby. Fewer cross-town drives, tighter routes, and more room for same-day calls.
What it can look like
Illustrative example: a 5-tech maintenance team averaging 45 drive miles per tech per day
- per tech per day if optimized routes trim a quarter of the driving
- −12 miper tech per day if optimized routes trim a quarter of the driving
- back per tech per day at average suburban driving speeds
- ~30 minback per tech per day at average suburban driving speeds
- per day across the team if that time goes to 30-minute maintenance visits
- +5 stopsper day across the team if that time goes to 30-minute maintenance visits
- arrival windows broken — constraints are honored on every run
- 0arrival windows broken — constraints are honored on every run
Illustrative example for planning purposes, not a reported customer result. Your outcomes depend on your team, market, and setup.

FAQ
Route optimization questions, answered.
Have a question we didn't cover? Book a demo and ask a product specialist.
Will optimizing routes change appointments I've already promised?
No. Arrival windows are treated as hard constraints, and locked appointments never move. Only the order within each window and the gaps between jobs are adjusted.
Can I optimize the whole team at once?
Yes. You can optimize a single tech's route or the whole day across every tech, including moving unlocked jobs between techs when someone else is closer and qualified.
Does it account for job length and skills?
Yes. Routes use estimated job durations by job type, required skills and certifications, vehicle requirements, and each tech's start and end locations.
How do techs get the updated route?
The mobile app updates immediately with the new stop order and turn-by-turn directions through the tech's preferred maps app.
Is route optimization useful for project crews?
It's most valuable for service and maintenance days with many stops. Multi-day project crews usually work one site, so they're scheduled on the project Gantt instead.
