Payments & finance
Card reader software that collects payment before the truck leaves the driveway.
Tap to pay on the tech's phone, or pair a pocket reader for chip and swipe. Either way the invoice closes itself and the receipt is already in the customer's inbox.

How it works
How card reader works in Homeforce
Payment is the last step of the job flow in the mobile app — no separate terminal, no manual entry, no end-of-day reconciliation.
No hardware
The tech's phone is the terminal.
Customers tap a contactless card, phone, or watch right on the tech's phone. Nothing extra to charge, pair, or lose in the truck.
Pocket reader
Pair a reader for every card in the wallet.
For chip cards and older swipe cards, pair a pocket reader over Bluetooth once and it reconnects automatically every time the tech opens the payment screen.
Checkout
Tips, deposits, and split payments at the door.
Offer an optional tip, take a deposit before work starts, or split a bill across two cards. Every piece posts to the same invoice automatically.
Automatic
The job closes the moment the card does.
Approved payments mark the invoice paid, email and text a branded receipt, and notify the office. Techs drive to the next job with nothing left to report.
What it can look like
Illustrative example: an 8-tech electrical contractor that used to mail paper invoices for half its jobs
- card numbers written on job tickets or read over the phone
- 0card numbers written on job tickets or read over the phone
- from "how would you like to pay?" to an emailed receipt
- < 30 secfrom "how would you like to pay?" to an emailed receipt
- fewer invoices sent to collections if most jobs are paid before the tech leaves
- ~50%fewer invoices sent to collections if most jobs are paid before the tech leaves
Illustrative example for planning purposes, not a reported customer result. Your outcomes depend on your team, market, and setup.

FAQ
Card reader questions, answered.
Have a question we didn't cover? Book a demo and ask a product specialist.
Do techs need a separate card reader?
No. Tap to pay works on supported iPhone and Android phones with nothing extra. A pocket reader is optional, for customers who want to insert a chip card or swipe.
Does the card reader work without cell service?
The mobile app works offline for job details and notes. Card payments need a connection to approve, so techs can collect as soon as they're back in range or send a pay link instead.
Can customers tip the technician?
Yes. You can turn on optional tipping at checkout, choose the suggested percentages, and see tips per tech in reporting and payroll exports.
Is card data stored on the tech's phone?
No. Card details are encrypted at the point of tap or insert and processed securely; neither the phone nor Homeforce stores full card numbers.
When does the money reach my bank?
On your standard payout schedule, or within minutes if you use instant payouts.
